windows 8.1 Laptop is running extremely slow and very vunerable to crashes

Hello everyone.

So i've been using this new lenovo laptop for about 2 months now and i'm already having some problems...

Currently ... it takes around 10 minutes for the laptop to boot up (first the lenovo logo..then the windows loading screen... then a VERY long black screen...then, on the user selection and password page there's a huge amount of input lag...then it takes 5 minutes saying "preparing windows" .. afterwards the taskbar is the first to show up on the screen and 5 minutes after that i can finally see the desktop icons..executing the programs however takes forever and opening more than one at a time crashes them)

basically....the computer is being abnormally slow and i do not know why..

I don't have a windows repair disk however..this problem is new though...there was a time when the laptop ran perfectly with the exact same amount of data stored and programs installed and such..

Thank you all in advance.

Thank you Kris, for your reply.

Unfortunatly i can't do what you asked me because as i said... running any type of program is going to take hours...

But nevermind me anymore...i already went ahead and wiped my HDD. I figured keeping my files wasn't worth all this trouble.

But thanks anyways
